Our History
Harmelin Media was founded in 1982 by Joanne Harmelin and was one of the region’s first agencies solely dedicated to media planning and buying. From a very modest beginning with three employees and a handful of loyal accounts, Harmelin Media has grown into one of the largest independent media services firms in the United States.
The agency’s culture promoted a strong sense of commitment to its staff, involvement in the community and unwavering service to its clients. This commitment was instilled in every employee at Harmelin Media. The unparalleled tenure of both our clients and our staff is a testament to the firm’s founding principles and strategic excellence.
The commitment to the firm’s founding values continues to this day. Focusing on the little things allowed Joanne to make Harmelin Media a success. This singular thought continues to run through everything Harmelin does. Clients, employees and media representatives alike recognize and appreciate the Harmelin difference.
In 2002, Joanne Harmelin handed the reins of the agency to the firm’s executive vice president Mary Meder, one of the firm’s first employees and a critical part of the agency’s growth and success.
Joining Mary on the executive leadership team were long-term Harmelin employees Lyn Pierce Strickler and Scott Davis, bringing unmatched expertise, experience and leadership to the firm’s operations and growth.
Since that time, Harmelin has continued to grow, doubling in billings through the addition of key clients and the diversification of media assets and setting up Harmelin Media for continued growth into the future.
Harmelin’s come a long way since its founding almost 30 years ago. But one thing has remained unchanged, and that’s commitment. To clients. To staff. To community. And to the little things that truly make a difference.
