Smartphones and laptops are among the most “addicting” devices for 13- to 24-year-olds according to a survey from CivicScience. When asking users of digital devices (computer, smartphone, etc.) if they are addicted to their devices, more than 75% of users under the age of 25 say, “Yes, definitely” or “Yes, somewhat”. A Coupofy study mentioned that US Millennials believe they check their phone more than 10 times an hour in a given day.
What this means for marketers: One cannot argue the information that our youth and millennials seem to be more connected digitally than any other age demographic. The industry should note how often people stay connected and whom in particular is accessing a digital device at any given time. When targeting a younger audience, Harmelin recommends utilizing mobile or laptop devices in order to expand reach.
