Virtual reality has quickly become one of the next big things in Digital Advertising. The ability to change the way consumers interact with content could have a major impact on the way we purchase media in the future.
What this means for marketers: As Virtual Reality technology continues to grow, consumers are slowly being introduced to the new ways VR will impact their daily lives. Despite a large amount of the Media’s VR attention going towards gaming, there are additional opportunities that Virtual Reality will be used to change the way users view content. Immersive storytelling, shopping, and product demos are all new ways to interact with consumers and change their perspectives about ads. Advertisers should also look to capitalize on the expected growth of 360-degree video’s over the next two years where 2D digital billboards, videos and television commercials are also visible. While the number of consumers using virtual reality technology increases, Harmelin will look for new ways to reach a brand’s target audience in both the real world and the virtual world.
