Did you ever get a song stuck in your head? That seems to be happening to me with FOX’s 2016-17 pilots for the upcoming season. It’s not necessarily a bad thing either. I keep having Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time pop into my head and then sometimes I hear Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time as well. It could be that I grew up in the 1980’s or maybe, just maybe, there is something as to why these “time” songs are stuck in my head.
FOX has some serious momentum heading into the 2015-2016 network TV season. The unofficial MVP (Most Valuable Program) from last season is its hit show Empire which will be back bigger and better with a host of celebrities from the music world (Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz to name a few). Rookie of the Year went to the prime time telecast of golf’s US Open at Chambers Bay in Tacoma, Washington.
The future is here. Technology has been fully embedded into our daily routines and consumers have become accustomed to an on-demand lifestyle. Programming is readily available and consumption is fragmented across TV, mobile, tablet, desktop and over-the-top devices. While past upfronts have focused on new technologies and the access for advertisers, there was nostalgia this year at the upfronts.
